I wanted to share some photos of my Beagle (Buddy) that I adopted from my county's animal services, and of some other Beagles I have helped to rescue from high-kill shelters. I am Beagle-crazy, in case you didn't know. I also wanted to ask you to check this list of beauty and household products that are tested on animals, and to please switch to a cruelty-free version if you use any of the products. There is also a downloadable list of those that do and don't here. You may not know, but animal testing is frequently done on Beagles, for the reason they are so loveable - their sweet and gentle nature. With that Public Service Announcement and personal plea out of the way, here are the photos. Enjoy!
Peace, Jessi

A vegan friendly board game!!!
We are super excited that we are getting this board game to review here and possibly in the 'zine... The game teaches children "about animals and how our everyday choices can affect their lives." That sure beats Candyland!!! Get the game here.If you are looking for a vegan-friendly children's book, we recommend That's Why We Don't Eat Animals, available here. The illustrations are darling, and the message is awesome.

Vegan Mainstream Feature Interview: Buying – and Living – Kind
I wanted to take a moment to share this Vegan Mainstream interview with my dear, dear friend Jody. She is the founder and co-owner of BuyKind.com.
OH, and read this interview!
BuyKind.com is a website that allows you to buy fully prepared meals from restaurants all over the country and have them shipped right to your door. Jody Kivlin, one of the founders of BuyKind, came to this vegan business through an interesting and heart-wrenching journey of her own. She spoke to Vegan Mainstream recently from a hill in Wisconsin, surrounded by her goats, about this journey, and her business, which allows her to live kindly, and share veganism with others.
If you haven't had the pleasure of the BuyKind experience. Treat yourself!
OH, and read this interview!

I'm not 'vegan' anymore
- Written by Lindsay S. Nixon
- I'm not vegan anymore. I'm a happy herbivore.

Please read full article HERE: http://happyherbivore.com/2011/10/im-not-vegan-anymore/
Vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians, omnivores and people who don't know what they are, ALL are welcome. We all come together with the same purpose: to eat more plants, to eat more "vegan" meals, to be healthier and of course, to call each other friends.
Be Kind to each other!

Join FARM in Observing Food Day on October 24!
Dear Friend,
The month of October has become national "Food Month," offering an opportunity to save millions of animal lives by promoting a vegan diet. It began with World Vegetarian Day and World Farm Animals Day on October 1st and 2nd, continues with World Food Day on October 16th, and culminates with Food Day on October 24th and World Go Vegan Week on October 24th-31st.
The most influential among these is Food Day, launched this year by our good friends at the Center for Science in the Public Interest. CSPI has been dubbed "The Food Police," because of its frequent exposés of the deadly flaws of the standard American diet. The goals of this new national observance include promoting safe, healthy foods and protecting the environment, animals, and farm workers. More than 1,100 events have been registered thus far throughout the U.S.
Food Day organizers have invited FARM supporters to bring vegan literature to Food Day events in their communities, or to organize their own Food Day event!
To find an event in your community, visit the Events Page. To organize your own event, visit the Organizing Page. To request vegan literature, visit our Literature Page.
Please join us in this uncommon opportunity to work in concert with a superb sister movement!
